History of Russia: Russia between the 12th and 15th centuries # 002

A few years later, a new Tatar offensive followed with disastrous consequences in the eastern part of Russia. However, Alexander Yaroslavich from Novgorod manages to stop the Swedes on June 15, 1240, when the Zhora River flows into the Neva. Victory was not enough to eliminate the danger, as the Germans continued the offensive, and a new battle on the ice of Lake Ciuda on April 5, 1242, won by the Russians, stopped the German advance. This struggle, however, would facilitate the occupation of Russia by the Tatars in 1236-1242, led by Batu Khan. Russian cities were plundered in a row: Reazan, Moscow, Vladimir, Kiev were devastated in 1240. The consequences of the Mongol conquest were difficult for Russia, and the restoration of the economy and politics was difficult in the 14-15 centuries, because the Tatars created a strong state, independent of the great Mongolian hotel, a state that also included Russia.

The starting point in the process of reunification of Russia will be the embassy of Moscow and Tvor, associated with transit trade. Ivan Kalita, who managed to unite the Vladimir region, had good relations with the Tatars, who stopped their attacks, but, in particular, moved the headquarters of the capital to Moscow. The one who will give a special impetus to the liberation struggle under the rule of the Tatars will be Dmitry Ivanovich by the name of Donskoy (1359-1389). Taking advantage of the weakening of the Golden Horde due to the battle between the great feudal rulers for the throne, he openly opposed it, gaining an important victory on September 8, 1380 on the Kulikovo Plain.

Although the Tatars will return in 1382, imposing domination over Moscow, this return will not be fulfilled in the previous conditions.

After a relatively long period, the battle will be resumed by the nephew Ivan III (1462-1505), who joined Novgorod and Tveril, to control which radical measures were taken by moving part of the boyar to the border areas. He entered into an alliance with the Tatar hotel Mengli Gherei in Crimea, whose state broke out of the Golden Horde. In 1480, the Akhmat Hotel of the Golden Horde emerged on the Ural River, after which Ivan III stopped paying tribute.

After 1502, the state of the Golden Horde ceased to exist. It is worth noting that Ivan III had a good relationship with Stephen the Great, with whom he spoke. In this process, the authority of the Dean continued to grow with an accessible army of servants (warriors). Associated with the former Byzantine imperial family, he uses the title of king.
